The Foundational Written Interpretation project is focused on rolling out a written interpretation suite of quality materials to a cohort of our historic houses.
We are looking for a highly creative and collaborative Creative Artworker to join the Print and Production team on a fixed-term project to deliver a suite of Interpretation signage to some of our most significant historic houses.

The role is offer on a 18 month fixed term contract or internal secondment basis.
What it's like to work here:Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, but there will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. There will be opportunity to travel and visit places as well as co-working at Heelis or other regional hubs.
You'll be based within our specialist Print & Production team as part of the wider National Trust Marketing Communications Delivery team who focus on delivering on-time, on-brand artwork across a variety of print and digital campaigns.
What you'll be doing:Working on the Foundational Written Interpretation project, which will deliver a suite of interpretation that has been designed to engage visitors with our most significant historic houses with signage that is informative, high quality and complimentary to a range of interior spaces.
You'll work within the matrixed Interpretation Project Team alongside a range of specialists in project management, interpretation, curation, editing and producing; and with external designers and manufacturers, to produce final artwork to approved templates, ready for production.
As an Artworker you’ll advise on best practice for producing print-ready artwork and ensuring the correct output for all creative concepts. The work is varied so you’ll need to be passionate about the small tactical pieces as well as supporting the bigger projects with unwavering quality standards.
Who we're looking forYou can read the role profile attached. We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Great design and artworking skills, with an eye for detail
- Experience of working on interpretation / exhibition displays, including both 2D graphic and 3D elements
- The ability to work within our sustainable print production guidelines
- Experience in an agency or in-house studio environment, editing and creating artwork for print and digital output, to tight deadlines
- Expert knowledge of Adobe software, print and repro processes and file formats
- Strong layout and typography skills and experience working to brand visual identity guidelines
- The ability to work within clear processes and a workflow management system to manage work effectively and efficiently preferably with experience of Workfront.
- Great communication skills in person as well as in writing and be comfortable challenging as well as being challenged
- A Proactive approach with the ability to work at pace whilst maintaining attention to detail, multi-task and problem-solve
- Be collaborative and a supportive team member.
