An opportunity has arisen for a Craftsperson (Fitting) within the East Midlands Projects Team, based at Derby.
Candidates are required to have Grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level qualification in both subjects. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
- Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe Primary duties of the post will be to carry out maintenance and construction project work on switchgear and plant at 132 and 33kV substations.
You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team, making on the spot decisions as required and working to tight deadlines. A flexible attitude is essential as you may be asked to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives. You will need to be mobile throughout the Nottingham and Derby area and you may be required to undertake standby duties.
The Ideal CandidateThe successful applicant will ideally have Maintenance fitting and / or Electrical Installation experience. Consideration will be given to an appointment, on a designate basis to applicants that do not possess all the skills required to undertake the role at present but have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.
If not already attained, the successful candidate will be required to study for Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 qualification and complete practical formal site based training which includes daily diary pages, and a number of tasks and reports as required. In addition you will receive training for to enter substations and Receive PTW documents and it is essential that, if appointed to the role, you are committed to achieving this level of authorisation.
