Job description
Temporary contract for nine months | 37 hours per week | £32,909 to £34,723 per annum (Grade I) | Based at County Hall, Norwich and working across the County (flexible working arrangements)
Are you analytically minded, with knowledge of child and family law and a passion for supporting and developing others?
We are looking for someone to provide additional support to our social workers as the PLO relaunch is implemented and we are reviewing our practice in family proceedings. You will support social workers through coaching conversations to build confidence in court work, with a focus on improving quality and consistency and supporting best practice.
You will join an established team of Court Work Facilitators based across the County. Court Work Facilitators are responsible for supporting social workers in their planning of public and private law work, consistent use of best practice tools and templates, preparation of court evidence, ensuring that matters before the Court are heard and dealt with in a timely way and the best outcome is achieved for the child/young person.
You will provide guidance and support to social workers who are managing pre-proceedings, care proceedings and private law cases, including support to social workers in their preparation of written and verbal submissions to court.
Supporting the Practice Lead with responsibility for Court Work, you will support county-wide training and workshops to train and develop colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to Court Work practice in Norfolk is achieved.
With a degree, or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Law, Social Work, or Probation, you will have proven experience of working effectively with children and their families within complex care proceedings and the family justice system. You will have knowledge of private law and public law work including pre-proceedings and care proceedings.
We have ambitious plans to shape how we work with families, placing practitioners and relationship-based practice at the heart of what we do. Through Vital Signs for Children, our vision for Children in Norfolk, we use Signs of Safety practice to work with whole family networks and across the whole system to support families to build on their strengths and to achieve the best possible outcomes.
If you are looking for the opportunity to support and build social workers confidence when undertaking court work, and you want to work together with us to shape the future of Children’s Services in Norfolk, we want to hear from you.
This is a temporary role to offer additional support to social workers as the PLO relaunch is implemented and Norfolk Family Court and the Local Authority are reviewing their practice in public and private proceedings.
If you would like an informal discussion about this opportunity, please contact Carmen Hawkes Practice Lead [email protected]
