As a freelance court transcriber, you will be responsible for listening to audio from civil and criminal courts across England and Wales and producing an accurate record of what has been said, in accordance with Opus 2 guidelines.

In addition to the above, IT and administrative skills are key to success in this role. You must be:

  • confident with the use of Microsoft Office; specifically, Word and Outlook;
  • open to learning new systems using internally developed software;
  • proactive and an effective communicator, written and oral, notifying any technical issues to the office at the earliest possible opportunity;

It is also very important to have the right environment and equipment to perform the role. We require that you have:

  • a quiet and private workspace with strong, reliable internet;
  • your own laptop with minimum of Windows 10;
  • a set of noise cancelling headphones and a foot pedal.
