Job title: Project Cost Accountant

Location: Warwick/Hybrid

Duration: 6 months initially

The role:

To build and maintain a capital investment unit cost library across the asset base. Provide cost Intelligence across GT, for estimating and forecasting investment project costs.

Responsibilities:

• Identify, extract and validate cost data from different data sources (SAP, FACC, G35, delivery teams and Activity Schedules)

• Apportion Overhead costs to the assets delivered as part of projects

• Identify the Equipment units (and UIDs) delivered in the project. Analyse the differentiators and intervention types for the equipment units

• Perform cost allocation as per the equipment units (and UIDs), differentiators and intervention types as appropriate

• Analyse cost divisions /cost breakdown and capture discrepancies. Analyse overheads and Apply defined business validation rules

• Query cost data and resolve queries to a satisfactory conclusion with relevant internal functions and business units

• Provide support to Senior Cost analyst and other team members for any cost benefit analysis, outlier data analysis, predictive cost forecasts etc.

• Capture Lessons Learnt and document data discrepancies during Analysis phase

• Provide support / coaching to user groups regarding data queries, related unit costs or equipment unit taxonomy

• Ensure Cost Standards are maintained, and the quality of Cost Data is mature for Regulatory assessment

• Cost Data Maintenance

Requirements:

• Experience of project accounting in a construction, energy or utilities environment

• Awareness of period accounting and accounting practices

• Experience of working with cost data, working to rules for cost allocation/apportionment, using cost estimation techniques, variance analysis of standard and actual costs

• Experience of undertaking cost data analysis, querying data to reach satisfactory conclusions with relevant internal functions and operational business units, variance analysis of standard and actual costs

• Appreciation of typical operational activities performed in the execution of asset health, cyber and network modification works

• Awareness of how estimates are formed from first principles

• Awareness of major cost differentiators

• Ability to accurately work with high volumes of data and adopt all best practices associated with storing, manipulating, and handling data
