Job summary
The Cabinet Secretary is the Prime Minister’s most senior policy adviser and Secretary to the Cabinet, responsible to all ministers for the running of Cabinet Government. He is also Head of the Civil Service, leading nearly half a million public servants who work in public institutions, administer tax, benefits and pensions systems and put government policy into practice.
The Cabinet Secretary’s Private Office supports the Cabinet Secretary in his duties and ensures that he is able to fulfil his role effectively. We are a close knit, high-performing team supporting delivery across the Cabinet Secretary’s portfolio, which covers the full range of domestic, economic and international issues as well as his role as Head of the Civil Service.
Job description
We are recruiting for a new Logistics and Correspondence manager. This is an exciting role at the centre of government; you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the office and be responsible for managing correspondence, including drafting outgoing correspondence and tracking timely responses from teams, as well as supporting with the organisation of key senior leadership meetings. This role represents a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to the heart of Government, the role of the Cabinet Office and its strategic priorities.
Working with colleagues across government to ensure correspondence is recorded and responded to in a timely manner.- Managing the Cabinet Secretary mailbox. Actively monitoring and managing inboxes to ensure any urgent and important emails are identified and flagged.
- Making sure practical arrangements are in place for meetings, including booking rooms, booking visitors in, and providing technical support in managing dial-in on communication platforms.
- Ensuring the office maintains accurate records and that mailing lists are kept up to date.
- Contributing to the wider functioning of the office, including the daily box for the Cabinet Secretary and supporting Private Secretaries with ad-hoc work, including but not limited to, correspondence and archive searches and general office admin.
- Supporting the Cabinet Secretary's leadership portfolio, including assisting with logistics and planning for regular Permanent Secretary meetings.
- Supporting the Diary Manager with ring rounds for large meetings to confirm attendance.
- Building relationships - Building, developing and maintaining relationships with Private Offices within the Cabinet Office, Prime Minister's Office and across the Civil Service. This may include Colleagues in your immediate team and Directorate, Ministerial Private Offices, Officials’ Private Offices, key internal and external stakeholders, and other stakeholders as needed.
