The Turnaround team is part of EY’s Turnaround and Restructuring Strategy (TRS) team. Your Key Responsibilities

As a Corporate Turnaround Senior Executive, you will take responsibility for our full-time efforts on the ground with clients, working as a credible and visible member of joint EY-client teams. While the specific role on the ground may vary from one engagement to the next, as a Senior Executive, you should be prepared to pragmatically coordinate all turnaround activities as a programme manager or to take responsibility for individual work streams. Above all, you will ensure all client work is delivered to a high standard of quality. At Assistant Director level you may additionally be required to lead / coordinate the overall programme, potentially overseeing multiple EY workstreams and being the main day-to-day POC for Board level client executives


We also expect our Assistant Directors and Senior Executives to play a supporting role in Turnaround origination and new business development efforts by qualifying targets, helping to develop robust points of view on pursuits, Taking control on critical pitches and preparing compelling go-to-market collateral. We expect you to establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships to help build the profile of our team. Assistant Directors should be prepared to join the pitch team and help present our offering to clients


You will also help to establish the basic building blocks for the team to win and deliver Turnaround work in a consistent and compelling way; supporting the maturation of the team’s turnaround proposition, and supporting Partners and Directors in new opportunity pipeline development.


As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a supportive, inclusive and nurturing team environment with a positive learning culture. Your role will include coaching and counselling junior team members to help them develop.

  • Ability to develop and implement Turnaround (or operational restructuring) plans.
  • Strategic acumen to understand the bigger picture and solve problems.
  • Desire to put in the hard work to deliver
  • Strong (pragmatic) project management skills are essential
  • Excellent financial analysis skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to create clear and compelling PowerPoint presentations
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Experience desirable in several of:
    • Rapid cost reduction
    • Liquidity forecasting and crisis cash management
    • Cash and working capital improvement
    • Strategic profit improvement
    • Business (financial) planning
    • Footprint optimisation
    • Understanding and navigating sensitive stakeholder environments


To qualify for the role you must have


  • Spent the bulk of your career working company-side
  • Situational (turnaround and crisis management) pedigree
  • Experience working in a turnaround boutique and/or within a Big 4 company-side restructuring team (ideally)
  • Also would consider candidates with demonstrable turnaround expertise honed in a strategy firm, PE and/or industry
