As a directorate we bring together a mix of in-depth expertise including economists and statisticians alongside delivery and policy managers. We deal with a wide range of issues, ranging from detailed and technical to high level and strategic.

As a member of the Directorate’s Corporate Support team, you will support the team in ensuring the smooth delivery of the Directorate’s core corporate responsibilities, and wider client functions. This will guarantee that the Directorate maintains a high corporate reputation and that deadlines are met for timebound activities. You will also be supporting the Roads Strategy (RS) Directorate.

We will look to you to provide excellent diary and inbox support to various senior leaders across the RaPID and RS directorates. This also includes assisting with the financial needs of the directorates, monitoring the shared inbox and being an IT focal point processing all IT related requests in a timely manner.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-pace and varied role, where no two days are the same! You will work in a dynamic and exciting environment where you can be stretched to reach your full potential!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Effectively managing the Deputy Directors diaries and inboxes to keep pace with rapidly changing requests, ensuring their time is handled effectively and appropriately. Horizon scanning to anticipate requirements and workloads, remaining aware of changing priorities to ensure the right balance between activities to enable the Deputy Directors to carry out the full range of their duties, and to give them breathing space in the day. Identifying opportunities, clashes and preparation required; coordinate meetings including recurring meetings and all logistics such as room bookings and travel.
  • Taking judgements on the priority and allocation of items on behalf of the Deputy Directors, understanding their priorities and being able to answer questions on their behalf, monitoring progress and taking ownership/initiative where required.
  • Providing support to the senior management team ensuring SMT is supported and deadlines are met. This will include tasks such as collating and consolidating information for returns (both ad hoc and regular)
  • Monitoring and managing the shared inbox, actioning requests from colleagues across both directorates.
  • Supporting with the Corporate team’s day to day tasks.
