Job description

Your role at a glance

Would you like the opportunity to work in a high growth finance team with a strong social purpose?

If you are newly qualified Finance Analyst, with a strong FP&A background, and a passion for making a difference in our society, then this is a fantastic opportunity to join our Clean Energy Finance Team working in our Legal and General Capital Division.

Legal & General Capital is the principal investment arm of L&G. It was founded in 2013 to actively invest the Group’s own balance sheet into strategic businesses to enhance risk-adjusted returns for its shareholders. In addition, LGC manages traded investments and treasury assets. We focus our investment on addressing long-term trends for the benefit of the Group and society. Our sectors cover Homes, Future Cities (urban regeneration, sustainable energy solutions and infrastructure) and SME Finance including venture capital.

This is rare opportunity for an Analyst to join one the most in demand teams within the division. The core of this role sees you taking on FP&A tasks; however, you’ll also be assisting the Clean Energy team in Portfolio Management and transactions, giving you a fantastic opportunity to develop and grow. Also, this role isn’t just internally focused, giving you the chance to work with businesses externally across the UK, helping them to grow their businesses.

What you'll be doing
  • You’ll be responsible for preparing financial information for the planning, forecasting and management information processes in the Clean Energy finance team. The role will involve working across business areas and the wider organisation to deliver a smooth and joined up approach that is well controlled, timely and of a high quality.
  • You’ll build, analyse, and evaluate financial models and review reported information to support the preparation of financial information. You will work closely with investment teams to assess future and potential investments which align to LGC’s strategy of creating assets for L&G Group and adhere to the firm’s regulations and capital profile.
  • You can develop an in-depth knowledge of LGC’s Clean Energy businesses and investment strategies and develop a close working relationship with LGC’s Direct Investment teams as well as building relationships with stakeholders from other business areas.
  • At times you will be required to assist with ad hoc financial reporting and analysis projects, as directed by the divisional FD, including divisional change projects, one-off analysis, or project deliverables.
  • The role will require strong excel and presentational skills alongside a solid financial analysis grounding to assist senior finance and investment staff in assessing and reporting the division’s performance and medium-term value creation plans with reference to its liquidity requirements and PBT generation.
What we're looking for

To be successful in this role you’ll benefit from being ambitious and motivated, with a growth mindset, as we anticipate exciting future growth in the team. You’ll be working with a variety of stakeholders so your communication skills will be key. You’ll need to enjoy working autonomously as you’ll be given lots of opportunity to take ownership over your work.

Here’s some of the experience that we’d love to see:

  • A strong FP&A background is essential, with experience in a larger business desirable.
  • Ideally you will be ACA/ACCA qualified, however we would also consider nearly qualified applicants with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen and interest in investment culture
  • Strong excel skills and financial modelling experience is essential.
  • Experience in Infrastructure or Clean Energy would be desirable.
Benefits

When you commit to Legal & General, we’ll commit to you too. That means we’ll recognise and reward your hard work, your performance and your contribution.

If you join us, you’ll get access to some great benefits, including private medical insurance, at least 25 days holiday (excluding bank holidays), a generous pension scheme, life assurance, and Income Protection. You can participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice. We’re also proud to offer competitive family leave.

You’ll have the opportunity to participate in our annual, performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes. And then there are the many discounts we offer that you can take advantage of – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online offerings.
