Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This position is located in Rockville, MD at The Universities at Shady Grove (USG).
USG currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Coordinator of Student Organizations and Leadership Programs. In this new role you will be responsible for coordinating the design and development of programming efforts for USG Student Organizations. You will design and oversee programs ensuring student members engage and advance leadership, teamwork and collaboration competencies. The Coordinator of Student Organizations and Leadership Programs will work with USG academic partners to develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan that supports the vision for student leadership, teamwork and collaboration, including the development, planning and execution of in-person and virtual USG campus-wide events. This position will be responsible for providing leadership and management for student organizations, and for a wide variety of student life activities’ programming and promotion.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited university or college.
Experience:
2 years of related experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Skilled in written and oral communications with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to develop collaborative partnerships

Preferences:
Preferred:
- Student services or student affairs experience developing, executing, and assessing programs, services in a higher education environment.
- Event planning and promotion experience in a higher education environment
- Experience leading or supporting student groups.
- Experience working with marginalized/underrepresented communities.
- Not required, but bilingual (Spanish) a plus

Physical Demands
Professional office environment. Typical workday requires several hours of sitting, talking and computer-based work. Physical activities include set up and break down of events, and standing for long periods of time. This position may require working 1-2 evening shifts a week as well as some weekends as needed.
