CATERING SERVICES DEPARTMENT
COOK/CHEF
Band 3 - £23,914 - £25,808 pro rata
Plus £1,201 Distant Islands Allowance pro rata
23hrs per week
(Shifts include 2.30pm – 7pm , 7am-3.15pm & 11.45am-7pm )

A rare opportunity has become available for a Chef/Cook to join our existing team at Uist & Barra Hospital. Duties will include producing and serving of high quality meals for patients, staff and external customers. You will also be required to supervise all operational aspects of the kitchen and associated areas inc. deliveries / preparation / storage rooms, wash up, including supervision of staff working in these areas.
Preferred experience within a commercial/industrial background would be an advantage but not necessary, Hospitality experience would also be advantageous. You would be expected to have comprehensive knowledge of food hygiene regulations and have good all round food preparation & supervisory skills in order to carry out this job successfully.
Candidates would require SVQ/NVQ level 3 (catering/professional cookery) or City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 (or similar). An Intermediate food hygiene certificate is also required, although candidates showing willingness to gain certificate whilst in post would be considered.

Candidates should have good leadership & communication skills and a self motivated approach to work and an ability to work on their own initiative. You must be able to work flexible shift pattern, including weekends.
