Job description

On behalf of our private clients, we are seeking a live-in Housekeeper/Cook for an independent couple in their 90’s living in a large home located around 6 miles from Scarborough. As the house is lightly occupied, a large proportion of the home will only need to be dusted and refreshed on occasion and won’t require daily attention.

The ideal candidate will be organised, warm and a great communicator who is confident in caring for antiques and silverware. The position could suit somebody who also has previous carer/companion experience as the role may evolve to include some companion/helper duties in the coming years. Applicants must be a driver with their own car.

Duties will include –

- All housekeeping, cleaning, and deep cleaning of used areas in the home

- Creating a weekly menu and preparation of a healthy, family-style lunch and supper daily (plus clearing away)

- Dusting and maintaining less used areas of the house periodically.

- Ordering essential home supplies including cleaning products, toiletries, other household goods and pantry and groceries

- Dealing with tradespeople, liaising with the principal’s family members and other staff members when needed.

Start date: End July/ Early August 2023

Working days & hours: 35 hours per week across 6 days (Mon-Fri 10am – 3pm then 7 – 8pm + Saturday 10am – 2pm)

Salary: £30,000 gross per year

Accommodation: 2 bed cottage with garden, (within the gates of the property) set in small rural village. Furnished or unfurnished. Occupied under a service contract. Pets and dependents allowed.
