We are looking for a fun and friendly nursery cook to join our ever growing team.
The right candidate will be in charge of the nursery kitchen ensuring that all the meals provided are to a high standard and inline with the nursery oral health policy and healthy eating ethos.

Hours: Part Time working 5 hours per day 9am-2pm Monday to Friday
1. To organise, cook and prepare a healthy balanced diet for the children age 0-5yrs

Responsible To: Nursery Manager
Main Duties:
1. Prepare, cook and follow the menu each day for all the children.
2. Collect the numbers of the children to determine the amount to cook for.
3. Prepare, organise and liquidize (if necessary) foods for the babies.
4. Notify the person in charge if you need to change the menu.
5. To load trays or the trolley of all equipment staff will need over the lunch time period
6. Prepare and set out the tea tray for the afternoon children where able to.
7. Attend Food and Hygiene refresher course every 3 years.
8. Follow and abide by Food and Hygiene rules, i.e.: hair tied back, wash hands etc.
9. Be aware of the yearly kitchen inspection by Food and Hygiene Safety Officer from the District Council and give feedback to the manager following the inspection.
10. Update Safer Food Better Business folder and record fridge temperatures daily.
11. Complete shopping order on a weekly basis and pass onto person in charge.
12. Ensure Kitchen is left clean and tidy everyday with nothing left out on the sides or draining board
13. Fridge to be cleaned once a week.
14. Extra time for additional cleaning jobs eg: cooker, cupboards etc to be arranged and discussed with the manager.
15. Bins to be emptied everyday and taken to outdoor bin.
16. To be aware of the fire drill procedure. The cook is responsible for assisting the baby room staff with the babies if safe to do so.
17. Notify manager of any maintenance that needs to be carried out.
18. Ensure soiled tea towels, cloths and aprons etc are placed into laundry bin each day.
19.Notify manager if you require replacement cleaning materials, utensils, crockery etc.
20. Assist manager with devising the following year’s menu.

Core training is provided through extensive CPD opportunities it would be desirable to have prior knowledge in Safeguarding Level 1 and 2, Paediatric First Aid, Level 2 Food Safety.
All applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of this application will be funded by Tiny Toez, All applicants are required to subscribe to the DBS Update Service and maintain the annual fee of £13.00.
It is an offence under section 76, Childcare Act 2006 to knowingly employ a Disqualified person within a childcare setting. Declarations are in place within the setting to ensure Safeguarding is paramount.
