What can you expect?
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our Patient Transport Service Control Team in the role of Full Time Controller/Call Taker at our Bournemouth Base.
Working as a Controller/Call Taker, you will be responsible for Planning and Controlling the daily movement of our non-emergency ambulances that are transporting the medically eligible patients to and from NHS healthcare facilities and their homes, whilst liaising with healthcare professionals, patients and their representatives to deliver an excellent transportation experience.
The aim of this role is to ensure precise controlling and planning of the ambulances, to allow patients to get to and from their appointments in a timely manner, whilst ensuring mobility and all other requirements of the booked journey are met, whilst also being the first point of contact for both patients and healthcare professionals when they call in requiring to make transport booking arrangements.
This is a full time, permanent role working 37.5 hours per week between the days of Monday – Sunday. There is a variety of 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts, between the hours of 06:00am – 20:00pm.
Salary: £22,990.50 per annum!
Main Duties involve:
- Planning and controlling the daily movement of ambulance journeys transporting eligible patients to and from their healthcare appointments.
- Allocating of physical resources and patient journeys using the Cleric System to our crew members and Volunteer Car Service workers.
- Liaising with healthcare professionals and hospital departments to ensure that we are able to maximise the utilisation of the available vehicles and staff.
- To work within a team to make decisions about transportation which deliver the best outcomes for patients.
- Inputting requests for transport, both efficiently and effectively onto the computerised booking system.
- Receive and process requests for patient transport journeys, from both patients and healthcare professionals.

What are we looking for?
- Experience of working in a similar transport control environment, using logistical and planning skills.
- Ability to plan appropriate journey routes for drivers.
- Problem solving ability for any challenges that may occur during day control.
- Customer service focused and able to effectively handle sensitive situations.
- Have a good geographic knowledge of the area.
- Be able to stay calm under pressure.
