Contract: Fixed Term 1 year, Maternity cover - Start Date: 1st September 2023
Salary: £55,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - 9.00am – 5.30pm
Reporting to: Head of Finance
Job Brief:
This position will report directly to the Head of Finance and will be responsible for the overall smooth running of the finance function, direct team management of 4 finance professionals and producing technical accounting reports at both period end and year end. The role is maternity cover lasting 1 year.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee and maintain the following processes below:
- Reconcile, audit, and post all credit card payments from the bank.
- Reconcile, audit, and post all income across the business.
- Check and process all foreign payments via the bank as necessary.
- Review all payments made in relation to the Abroad side of the business, ensure suppliers are only paid once, post accurate monthly accruals.
- Ensure all deposits for booking are allocated on booking system; Tigerbay.
- Ensure the Abroad margins are accurate on a monthly basis and explain any discrepancies.
Monthly Balance sheet reconciliations
Monthly Bank account reconciliations
Capital – Understanding the company capex policy, ensuring all depreciation is posted monthly as per the spend. Seek to improve the processes around this.
Responsible for a team of 4:
- Assistant Financial Controller (3 days a week) – Direct reports – Accounts Assistant
- Management Accountant
- Purchase Ledger (Ratiobox external company)
Liaison with point-of-sale, accounting software, and other system vendors and consultants
Maintenance of all financial ledgers and accounting processes
Assist in the preparation of VAT Returns
Assist the Head of Finance in producing accurate and timely financial statements.
Manage the month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation.
Assist in the timely production of all statutory and internal financial reports.
Ensures a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability.
Key Skills, Experience & Knowledge:
- Recent experience within a hotel or Food and Beverage business
- Analytical skills are essential.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
- Excellent communication skills
- High degree of attention to detail
- Use of Access Financials (preferable)
