Job description
My Client, a young and progressive business has been experiencing a period of rapid growth and the finance function now needs a dedicated Financial Controller to assist with the day to day finances as well as the monthly, quarterly and annual responsibilities.
They need someone who is very hands-on and the role requires someone who is able to lead the way to ensure that appropriate processes are identified, out in place and communicated effectively to the wider team. They also need someone who is comfortable in an environment where they are involved in all areas of the business and not just the finance function. It will suit someone with a commercial interest, keen to work closely with the senior leadership team to continue the successful growth of the company.
Key responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts incorporating profit and loss and balance sheet
- Preparation of financial reports to support the commercial management
- Assisting with monthly forecasts/reforecasts and annual budgets
- Analysing targets
- Balance sheet reconciliations (including inter-company reconciliations)
- Preparation of information for the annual audit
- Oversee AP, AR and Payroll functions
- Overseeing VAT and CIS returns
- Weekly meeting with the Director to monitor cashflow
- Liaising with the Accountants for two European subsidiaries
- Prepare consolidated management accounts and manage the intercompany recharges and interactions
- Ensuring the business meets all its statutory and compliance obligations
- Looking for cost-reduction opportunities
- Develop relationships with external contacts such as auditors, solicitors and HMRC
- Support the project managers with their budget-setting, running timesheet reports from Xero
- Supporting another member of the team where necessary
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong technical financial knowledge and a relevant accounting qualification eg ACCA or CIMA
- Effective communication skills
- Previous experience of working in a smaller organisation where you will have been involved in all aspects of the business
- Concise and logical thinker
- Intermediate to advanced Excel
- Hands-on approach
