We seek an experienced Financial Controller in the U.K. to lead the finance organization for our quickly growing organization. The primary responsibility of the Controller is to oversee the company’s global financial accounting, U.S. and U.K. corporate reporting requirements and annual financial audit, whilst providing organisational and technical leadership for all financial operations based in the UK. Key Responsibilities


First Year Outcomes:
By the end of your first year in this role, you will have:
  • Established an enhanced internal control framework and documented our processes accordingly.
  • Implemented an efficient and timely month- and quarter-end closing and financial reporting process to produce a comprehensive internal management reporting and analysis package, board and investor reports, and departmental budget variance reports.
  • Optimized cash flow through a proactive A/R credit control/collections process, timely invoicing processes, and effective coordination with the Customer Success team on customer communications,
  • Provided oversight and back-up for UK payroll, commission processing and billing operations conducted by the UK finance team.
  • Implemented an effective and accurate departmental and company budgeting process, to produce financial plans aligned with key company and departmental strategic priorities.
  • Established safeguards to ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly within 10 days of the calendar month-end.
  • Identified key financial and operational metrics and are leveraging our accounting system to report and monitor performance trends and compare actual metrics against established benchmarks.
  • Assumed the lead role on our annual financial audit and assumed responsibility as the primary liaison with our finance partners and vendors, including banking partners and SaaS technology providers.

Key Responsibilities
This role is responsible for:
  • Supporting the CFO/COO in identifying opportunities to improve the operational and financial performance of the company’s global businesses operations.
  • Compliance with all statutory and regulatory filing and reporting requirements in the UK.
  • Successful completion of the annual financial audit in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • The accurate and timely fulfillment of ongoing monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external financial reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Supporting GTM teams with approvals of contract financial terms and pricing/contract analyses as needed.
  • Providing technical support and expertise to the department to ensure suitable accounting policies and controls are embedded into routine processes.
  • Ensuring adequate systems and controls are in place and operating effectively to satisfy financial reporting and audit requirements.
  • Collaborating with COO and Executive Team on monthly re-forecasts of cash flow and EBITDA.
  • Supporting each of our Strategic Leadership Team members and other department heads with planning tools, financial analysis, and budget and variance reports for their respective department, so that leaders fully understand their financial management responsibilities and results.
  • Negotiating with suppliers on contract pricing and payment terms.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


Must-haves:
  • Expert-level knowledge of accounting principles, financial system ecosystems and data flows, and UK statutory and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Exceptional organization skills to juggle multiple projects, communication streams and data flows simultaneously.
  • Leadership skills to maximize the effectiveness of the finance function while continually developing the competencies of direct and indirect reports within the department.
  • Analytical skills for processing information quickly and effectively, identifying and tracking relevant business and financial performance metrics, and anticipating the financial impact of business decisions.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly and confidently articulate requests for information and actions required of non-finance team members throughout the organization having varying degrees of financial acumen.
  • Impeccable discretion in keeping all sensitive information confidential.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and follow-up with others accordingly so that the most important projects are not dropped or delayed unnecessarily.
  • Business acumen to understand discussions regarding company strategy and interdependencies between functional areas.
  • Experience in a SaaS environment (at least three years), with at least 3 years of management experience and 10 years of overall finance/accounting experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of SageIntacct and/or Salesforce.
