As a Controls & Design Engineer Apprentice, you will embark on a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this dynamic field. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will gain hands-on experience working on cutting-edge projects, contributing to developing innovative control systems solutions.
What will you be doing?
The main focus of your role would be to support the development of control systems here at ORE Catapult. This includes hardware design, writing functional descriptions, developing control code, designing operator interfaces, and collecting test data for customer reports and fault finding, ideal for creative problem solvers.
You will be responsible for the delivery of Control Engineering processes, and procedures as well as maintaining and supporting control system equipment.
This role is focused on our systems giving you the opportunity to operate, repair and improve control systems to provide the best functionality we can offer.

What You’ll Need
- Basic knowledge of the renewable energy industry.
- A minimum of five 9-4 grade GCSEs, including English and Maths, as well as some Level 3 qualifications in relevant subjects. Your Level 3 qualifications could be AS-levels, a BTEC National or a Level 3 NVQ
- Willing to undertake a Level 5 apprenticeship and qualifications
- Good understanding of office-based equipment and software packages.
- Able to demonstrate initiative.
- Must demonstrate a strong work ethic.

Assessment Day
As part of our selection process, you may be invited to attend an assessment centre day so that we can get to know you a little better and show you how our business operates.
