FieldCore is looking for UK based contract Mechanical Fitters to work with our Craft team on an assignment-to-assignment basis.
Let’s Talk about the Role
As a Turbine Mechanical Fitter your primary responsibility is to safely accomplish the installation, maintenance and repair of the heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications. You will work closely with Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve your goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Dismantle, assemble, move, and align, machinery and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, micrometres, rules, squares, plumb bobs, dial indicators and/or laser alignment equipment
- Read blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures
- Responsible for shipping and receiving all major pieces for T&DC, plus all shipping, receiving, inventory, and control of tools, equipment, and supplies
- Perform material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometres, rules, callipers, protractors, and torque wrenches
- Perform machining and welding operations for making various parts for lab and shop training equipment
- Determine equipment specifications and prepare parts lists for purchasing, consisting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic devices as needed to complete assigned projects
- Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies and perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs as needed
- Read blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures
- Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in industrial establishments
Special Role Requirements:
- Able to travel extensively to and from projects and various field assignments.
- Willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments.
- Ability to spend considerable time away from home for training and field assignments
Required Qualifications & Experience
You will be a Mechanic with previous experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines. It will be beneficial if you:
- Have the ability to disassemble and reassemble complex rotating equipment – Bolting, Hydraulic Bolting, Flange Management, Small Bore Piping, Basic Rigging/Lifting, O/H Crane Operator
- Are proficient in the following: mechanical/technical skills, oral communications skills, Critical Thinking
- Can manage time-sensitive tasks and maintain a schedule within operationally challenging environments.
- Are able to work well both independently and in a team environment.
