Who You Are
Altos Labs™ is seeking a contract manager to join a dynamic legal department committed to enabling a highly collaborative organization to do great science that is translated into novel therapeutics. The ideal candidate will have experience with the business and legal of the life sciences industry and will have in-house academic or corporate experience. We are looking for a curious and passionate individual with a collaborative spirit who is committed to developing themselves and learning new skills, and we are ready to help you do that.
About the Legal Team: Because of the scope, complexity, and diversity of the company's work, we are building a world-class legal team that creates value by creating and implementing efficient and effective processes that reduce distractions and obstacles while ensuring legal and compliance quality across the company. Our legal team includes accomplished lawyers and staff who comprise a flexible, talented, diverse, and cohesive team.
The position reports to the Senior Director, Legal Operations & Chief of Staff and is located in Cambridge, UK.
What You Will Contribute to Altos Labs
- Negotiating and assisting on a wide range of contracts including non-disclosure, material transfer, services, consulting, data security, procurement, and other technology-related agreements
- Understand the company in order to identify risks, develop solutions, mitigation and negotiation strategies
- Maintain a library of form documents, contract clauses, templates, and historical documents, and add or revise material as needed
- Implement and improve policies and procedures for the contracting process
- Use contracts tools to manage the contracts lifecycle capturing key terms, and drive for tooling enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy and ease of use
- Have a continuous improvement mindset
- Serve as first point of contact to internal business units to answer legal inquiries and escalate seamlessly to appropriate legal colleagues
- Other ad hoc duties as assigned
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a paralegal or contracts manager with at least 3 years of progressive responsibility in contract management and/or administration
- Degree level (BA or BSc) (or equivalent work experience). Degree in law or a law conversion qualification is a plus
- Have substantive knowledge of legal terms/concepts including, but not limited to: confidentiality, intellectual property ownership and licenses, statements of work, indemnification, and limitations on liability
- Possess great organizational skills and ability to prioritize workloads
- Exemplify a strong attention to detail
- Value being part of, and contributing to, a diverse and inclusive team
- Demonstrated experience in adapting and executing in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment
- Possess excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, negotiation, communication (written and verbal)
- Understanding of stakeholders' experience and the ability to resolve requests in thoughtful and creative ways
- Ability to work with systems and teams across time zones to foster a collaborative, and creative work environment
- Ability to work independently while managing high-volume workloads, multiple stakeholder demands and ever-shifting priorities all while instilling confidence
- Demonstrated experience of streamlining contractual processes and ensuring continuous best practice and evolving with technology to create efficiencies
The salary range for this position is £81,600 - £110,400
