Summary
The Marketing Content Writer creates advertising/ marketing/ social and digital media campaigns for Barry University in general, Colleges/Schools/Programs specifically, and any other University needs.
As a key member of the team, the Marketing Content Writer is responsible for writing highly engaging creative content that generates Barry U brand awareness, promotes student recruitment, enrollment and retention through multiple platforms, promotes the advancement of our vision and values, promotes student and alumni engagement, supports University events and informational sessions, among other goals.
Using proven creative concepting and storytelling skills, the person in this position provides impeccable written short and long-form content and proactively identifies opportunities.
Expertise with SEO, SEM, CMS Platforms, data analysis are highly desirable.
Must be highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Bilingual (english/spanish) copywriting experience a plus.

Essential Functions
- Conceptualizes, writes, edits, and assists with production of multiple types of creative assets with varying scopes of work and competing timelines. Supervises and reviews content produced by other staff members, freelancers, production vendors, among others.
- Works with creative team, marketing account managers, marketing technology, and others to consistently produce ideas and creative content strategies that reflect the needs of each assignment. Proactively identifies creative opportunities and ensures accuracy and relevance of information. Presents work effectively and efficiently based on informed creative rationales. Seeks approvals and revises based on team input. Follows through until completion.
- Proactively monitors, prioritizes and manages projects in Workfront, or comparable project management platform. Reacts quickly, efficiently, and enthusiastically to quick-turn assignments.
- Reviews and assists with determining benchmark metrics for assessing improvements in communications and outreach outcomes for assigned clients. Reviews data that reflects the effectiveness of initiatives. Recommends revisions to existing content plans and practices.
- Fully collaborates with content marketing team, marketing account managers and coordinators, University faculty and Staff, among others in creating content that consistently delights. Nurtures collaboration, shared learning and action plans with Marketing Technology Dept. Provides ongoing or on demand Status Updates to Content Manager and/or AVP of Marketing and Brand
- Attends and supports Barry University of School/College/Program events as necessary or assigned.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree is preferred in any field of study.
- Experience may substitute for some of the above education: Prior experience writing creative content; advertising agency copywriting experience.
- Bilingual copywriting experience a plus.
- 5-8 years of work-related experience is required.
- Knowledge of marketing and advertising campaigns, performance marketing, digital marketing, social media, and data analysis.
Knowledge and experience in the following areas/skills a plus:
- Understanding of Barry University, its student life and Mission.
- Understanding or higher education Undergraduate and Graduate recruitment and enrollment practices.
- Understanding of specific School/College/Program within Barry University or comparable Higher Ed Institution.
- Understanding of higher education in general, including recruitment, enrollment and retention initiatives.
- Understanding of trends, techniques and platforms related to creative content.
- Understanding of advertising, social/digital media, design and pop-culture trends.
