Working pattern/flexible working -
This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the London/Bracknell Head Office. However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as the need arises.
About the role:
This is an exciting time to join the partnership in a leading role where you will be responsible for the Waitrose tone of voice across all brand touchpoints and interactions with specific accountability for copywriting, editorial and digital content.
You will play a vital role in leading the content, copywriting and editorial teams, setting a clear vision, standards and guidelines for Waitrose tone of voice as a key pillar of the broader brand vision and creative direction.
You will work alongside the Customer, Retail and Commercial teams to ensure that copywriting and content is consistent, effective and adheres to tone of voice standards.

Key responsibilities:
Content and Tone of Voice
Lead the development of content propositions and concepts.
Develop outstanding content as part of the brand identity and content strategy, which connects with target customers and clearly differentiates Waitrose from the competition.
Champion and uphold the brand standards guidelines across the business, ensuring consistent tone of voice for the Waitrose brand.
Leadership
Lead the copywriting and editorial teams across digital and print to produce outstanding creative multi-channel content that delivers consistently to the content and tone of voice strategy
Motivate and inspire the teams to reach their full potential and embrace all changes necessary to drive the business forward. Coach and actively develop the Copywriting and Editorial teams, establishing effective processes and setting clear objectives which drive continual improvement in performance.
Stakeholder Management
Create, build and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress to ensure engagement and support.
Project Management
Review delivery of editorial and copywriting work with content strategy team and relevant managers in Customer, Commercial and Retail to ensure the quality of work is outstanding and delivered to brief.
People Management
Create the conditions for all Partners to thrive, make their best contribution and achieve their potential.
Personal Development
Hold great passion for content and copywriting and seek to exploit industry developments and innovation for all work.
Essential skills you’ll need:
Sufficient experience in editor/editor-in-chief/content role
Omnichannel experience
Good understanding of the retail market
Excellent content and tov skills
Demonstrable experience of influencing senior stakeholders in a range of business contexts
Agency knowledge/management
Executing change/driving innovation
Excellent written and communication skills
Desirable skills you’ll have:
Experience working for a food/retail brand
