Job description
The purpose of Corporate Relations is to ensure that Anglo American stands out as a trusted leader in responsible mining that unlocks long-term value for society by effectively managing socio-political risk; engaging proactively and meaningfully with all relevant stakeholders to shape both their opinions and public policy outcomes; rallying employees around the company’s ambitions to help build a high performance culture; and protecting and strengthening its global reputation and brand.
The Employee Engagement team is responsible for making sure that colleagues around the Group are connected, respected, engaged, heard and informed about what is happening in the business. Developing content that can be used in our Group internal channels, local BU and Group Function channels and be repurposed for our Group external channels is a key part of our engagement strategy.
The purpose of this role is to develop a variety of engaging content for use across our internal and external channels.
Furthermore, responsibilities of this role include:
Performance & Delivery
- Write powerful stories that inspire and motivate colleagues and reinforce messaging in engaging and concise ways
- Create content experiences for colleagues by developing, curating and marketing content in new and engaging ways
- Develop and manage a rolling editorial calendar for Group content, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with function and BU campaigns
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and external agencies to develop engaging multimedia content for our internal and external channels, including the Group website, to support our financial results announcements
- Collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders across the Group to produce content that tells the stories from within our businesses
- Conduct interviews for all delivery forms, ensuring rounded content for news, blogs, podcasts, soundbites, and other communication and engagement format
- Support the content and delivery of regular Teams live events
- Experiment with new and creative storytelling approaches to drive readership and engagement
- Bring business as usual communication to life to get cut through and help our corporate messages land with colleagues
- Leverage data and technology to drive better experiences
- Work closely with the Channels Team to create new ways of engaging audiences with our content
- Manage Group news content on the intranet, ensuring stories and announcements are published in a timely fashion
- Ensure that content is in line with our brand guidelines and reflects our Values, particularly around Safety
- Champion the Anglo American brand internally being conscious of how our actions drive towards our brand promise

Compliance
- Comply with the Anglo American Code of Conduct and existing Anglo American polices, processes and procedures
- Identify any opportunities for improved cost management and either address these, or raise them with your manager as appropriate
- Identify gaps in policy & system design, implementation or execution that are negatively impacting on your team or their performance and initiate action to address these issues, considering the impact on suppliers and customers. For policies & systems within your authority, make the required changes. For others, escalate these issues to seek action and / or look for alternative solutions
Safety, Health & Environment
- Demonstrate behaviour in line with health, safety and environmental standards and with the Group’s values
- Set the health, safety and environmental expectations for your team and monitor behaviour so that it meets the required standards
- Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections and observations, and address issues as part of demonstrating safety leadership
Qualifications:
A degree or equivalent, preferably in journalism, communications, media, digital comms or related disciplines
Specific Knowledge requirements:
- A good understanding of video production
- A strong writer
- Experience of working collaboratively across teams and locations
- Experience of working with external agencies
