Digital Content Coordinator - Job Reference #202305-04
DESCRIPTION:
The Digital Content Coordinator will create and coordinate the institutional voice of King’s on social media platforms. This vital role implements a strategy to build relationships through digital communications with key stakeholders: future students, current students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, media and the wider community. This is conducted through a strategic, integrated approach of video, photos, graphics, writing and other digital tools that helps to create an overall brand for King’s while balancing the voice, online, of distinctive programs at King’s to aid in recruitment and retention and to build community.
Some of the key accountabilities will be to:
- Research and identify creative and strategic digital communications opportunities to build brand awareness and community on a daily basis by being on top of trending content relevant to King’s culture, values, mission and vision through scanning software and manual scanning.
- Create coordinated daily social media content (copy writing and creative assets) across multiple channels including Instagram, Facebook (Business pages, Groups),TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube unique to each audience
- Deliver coordinated content to social media channels to strategically meet institutional needs while balancing content needs of distinctive programs and departments.
- Implement and collaboratively coordinate a strategic social media calendar including frequency and type of postings for multiple channels on an ongoing basis while being able to pivot as emerging topics and needs arise.
- Plan, shoot, edit high quality short video using cellphone and DSLR and implement best practices while keeping content succinct, meaningful and relevant to future and current students and other stakeholders.
- Plan, shoot and edit high quality photographs using ethical guidelines which celebrate King’s brand while respecting diversity, privacy and balancing of distinctive programs and departments.
- Write accurate, relevant social media copy distinctive to each platform and post in the consistent tone of King’s voice as indicated by Mission, Vision and Values including, on occasion distinctive voices of channels belonging to senior leaders, alumni, recruitment, and academic departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (unless identified as preferred):
The successful candidate will:
- Be a College graduate with an advanced diploma in Communications, a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Have a minimum of 2 years experience. Experience within the university sector would be considered an asset.
- Be available to work flexible hours including unscheduled evenings, weekends during times of high demand, crisis with a limited support system.
- Demonstrate capabilities in social media copywriting, adhering to writing style guides and have comprehensive knowledge of proper grammar and punctuation.
- Proven capability in writing and implementing strategic communications plans for university sector campaigns.
- Have proven proficiency in social media design and video editing apps; sound knowledge of photography, videography, social media content development and management, and adhering to AODA guidelines.
- Be familiar with project management, social media planning and communications apps.
- Be active in the professional communications associations such as IABC, CPRS and/or WCT with plans to complete professional designations.
- Have attended relevant Professional Development events, conferences related to best practices in digital communications.
- Be able to respond quickly and effectively in a fact paced environment.
TYPE OF JOB:
Full Time Permanent - 35 hours per week
Please note: Due to the nature of the position, the position requires the incumbent to work flexible work hours including but not limited to unscheduled evenings and weekends.

SALARY RANGE:
SSG-11 $56,000 – $68,229 per annum, dependent on experience
