Job description

Job title: Content Designer

Location: London, Bristol (including hybrid)

Salary: £42,000 - £62,000

Kaluza wants to power a world where net-zero is within everyone's reach, by building the platform that will accelerate a sustainable, affordable and resilient energy transition. It's a huge challenge, but often the toughest problems are the most rewarding to solve.

Since launching in 2019, Kaluza's technology has been empowering some of the biggest energy suppliers to better serve millions of customers.

From revolutionising billing to smart electric vehicle charging, our real-time cloud platforms transform energy retailer operations, reducing cost to serve and boosting engagement. And most importantly, they enable suppliers' customers to drive decarbonisation with smart, low carbon technologies.

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

You will join our Platform Design team, which consists of over 25 professionals including Product Designers, Service Designers, User Researchers, Content Designers, and Technical Writers.

Reporting to our Senior Content Designer, you will also collaborate closely with colleagues from various disciplines such as Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing and Business Development. Your work will be informed by research, data, strategy, business and user needs.
We take inspiration from the principles and ethos outlined in the Content Design Manifesto.

What will I be doing?

You will initially be embedded in one of our design teams working across interfaces for energy retailer clients, consumers and customer care agents. You'll also contribute to applying and developing content design best practices, style guidelines, glossaries and workflows. There will be opportunities to work across multiple projects that support your professional development.

You'll do this by:

  • Writing content that is human, clear and concise
  • Making complex language and processes easier to understand
  • Following, and contributing to, style guidelines
  • Experimenting with large language models and other tools to improve workflows
  • Training designers, developers and product managers to work more effectively with content
  • Conducting content discovery and research, with support from the Design team
  • Implementing content design based on research, analysis and user needs
  • Working in the open through frequent documentation and updates
  • Bringing stakeholders into the design process, adapting to feedback and advocating for the user experience

Is this the job for me?

This is an exciting time to join Kaluza. Our platform is growing internationally, and you will have the opportunity to work on a range of interesting projects.

We have huge ambitions and no time to lose in playing our part in the energy transition. This means that you'll need to be agile in your approach and adaptable to evolving needs of our users and clients. As such, you will be expected to move between different product teams and problem areas wherever needed.

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience in lean and agile approaches to content design within product delivery
  • Experience in designing, writing and editing clear and useful content
  • Experience in validating your solutions, including user testing methodologies, analytics and customer feedback
  • Experience demonstrating the value of content design by impacting metrics for engagement, retention, efficiency and more
  • Initiative to increase the UX maturity of the organisation, advocating for and explaining the value of user-centred design
  • Interest in B2B (Business to Business) and SaaS (Software as a Service)
  • Excellent collaboration skills and open to feedback
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders across engineering, product management, marketing and executive teams
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Ability to shift gears in a fast changing environment
  • Ability to quickly immerse into the complex, technical domain of energy
