Team/Function Overview

ESPA (Enterprise Services and Public Affairs) is responsible for enhancing and protecting Citi’s reputation around the world. In EMEA, ESPA includes four key disciplines: media relations, employee engagement, institutional branding and community development. The regional head of each of these disciplines sits in London and is responsible for oversight of that discipline both within the London hub, and for the region as a whole.

Citi has an on-the-ground presence in 55 countries throughout EMEA, and ESPA has individuals or teams based in 27 of those countries. ESPA’s EMEA hub is located in London, Citi’s regional headquarters.

Role / Position Overview

The Content and Channels Manager role sits within the Employee Engagement & Communication team within Enterprise Services and Public Affairs.

The Content Manager will work with the regional Head of Content & Channels to create and source brilliant content that brings to life Citi’s mission, value proposition and business objectives. The content we create needs to match the quality of anything employees may consume in their lives outside work and we also need to deliver it in an engaging manner, adapting it for different channels and audiences.

The successful candidate must have digital communications skills, particularly in developing content for email, social media, and the web. They must be able to convey a story in a compelling manner using a variety of media and also able to analyse engagement metrics to improve the employee experience journey afterwards.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation

  • Utilising news judgement and knowledge of Citi’s key business objectives, to create and identify stories that are meaningful for our employees
  • Gather and synthesize relevant information from a variety of sources and subject-matter experts to write clear, accurate and compelling stories for our channels
  • Be comfortable working with video, imagery and audio under the pressure of tight deadlines
  • Package content for use by our people managers around the region
  • Assist in executive script writing and memos

Content Delivery

Creative approach to making content best suited to a variety of channels including:

  • Employee events and town halls
  • Small-group meetings
  • Tools for people managers
  • Employee email newsletters
  • Intranet, particularly SharePoint Online
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Social media
  • Digital signage


Work collaboratively with the wider ESPA team to actively manage and maintain employee communication channels and develop new channels as required

Continuously review internal communications channels to identify gaps and develop solutions to ensure messages are coordinated and delivered consistently

Assist with logistics and planning around employee engagement events

Assist with audience mapping and message segmentation

Assist with collecting and analysing employee feedback data to inform channel strategy

Assist with delivering and asserting channel and content governance and controls across the region

Development Value:

The successful candidate will join a team focussed on a comprehensive communications and employee engagement strategy for a global organisation in one of its key regions, encompassing on-the-ground operations in 55 countries and with more than 23,000 employees. The Content Manager role will position the successful candidate to learn about all aspects of Citi’s institutional business around the region. Employee engagement is a key strategic focus of senior management at Citi, and high-quality, meaningful content is critical to influencing employee behaviour. The role will involve active engagement with a wide range of senior leaders from around the EMEA region.

Criteria/Qualifications

Professional writing/editing experience

Digital marketing experience desirable

Fundamental understanding of working within a large and complex organisation

Creatively deliver content in a compelling manner

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Ability to identify meaningful content for employees and deliver it in a clear, compelling manner

  • Excellent news judgement

  • Communicate complex concepts in a meaningful way, using accessible language

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations required or equivalent Communications educational experience preferred.

Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience, particularly those with digital marketing experience.
