Job Introduction

Two posts Available:

1) 1 x Part time post - 18.5 hours per week, to Job Share with an existing Consultant Social Worker. Working days will be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday on Week 1 and Thursday & Friday on Week 2.

2) 1 x Full Time Post - Fixed Term Contract until April 2024 - 37 hours per week

This is part of an ambitious team within Childrens Services in Staffordshire and the post holder will work alongside a team of Consultant Social Workers in our front door to allow for restorative conversations to take place at this early and critical stage.

We value high challenge high support conversations with our partners that really put children's needs at the centre of what we do. The aim is to reduce paper referrals and encourage phone calls and conversations and to improve lines of communication between ourselves and partners.

Our Consultant Social Workers also take the lead in initiating Section 47 Investigations, and chairing strategy meetings to ensure multi-agency responses are efficient and appropriate when a child is identified as being at risk of significant harm.

Main Responsibilities

You will report to one of two Team Managers within Staffordshire Childrens Advice and Support and there will be opportunities for individual, group and peer supervision to enable continuous professional development and engender a learning environment within a restorative model which promotes best practice and relationship based social work.

The post is located in the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) with police and other partners but there will be opportunities for home and flexible working as required to maintain an effective service.

The Ideal Candidate

You must have:

  • A relevant social work qualification which allows you to practice in the UK
  • Social Work England registration (SWE)
  • Substantial experience in providing social work services to children in a variety of settings including child protection and safeguarding.

You'll also have a drive to bring about better services and outcomes for children and have a detailed understanding of prevention and early intervention with children and young people as well as a good understanding of child protection and safeguarding and when to take immediate action if required.
