Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust (NUH) is looking for a fulltime 12 month fixed term Stroke Consultant Physician to join an existing team of 10 NHS and academic consultants providing Stroke services to the people of Nottinghamshire and beyond. NUH is a Comprehensive Stroke Centre for the East Midlands and provides Endovascular, Neurosurgical services, 24/7 Thrombolysis and Hyperacute Care.
NUH hosts the Mechanical Thrombectomy Centre for the East Midlands region. The service is expanding following the successful business case for expanding Mechanical Thrombectomy 24/7. The service is currently Monday to Friday however there is a phased programme of works in place towards the service running 24/7 in January 2024.
You will be joining a dedicated, diverse and dynamic team of professionals providing outstanding stroke care and internationally recognised Stroke research within the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre, a partnership between NUH and the University of Nottingham.
NUH is the fourth largest acute Trust within the UK, with a busy emergency department at Queens Medical Centre, which is a level 1 Trauma Centre. NUH provide s services to 2.5 million residents of Nottingham and surrounding communities, and specialist services to a further 3-4 million across the region and nationally.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must have GMC registration and be eligible to be included on the specialist register. Sub specialty interests could also be accommodated.
The Comprehensive Stroke Centre, at NUH , consists of:
- 16 bedded hyper acute stroke unit at QMC campus
- 34 bedded acute rehabilitation stroke unit at QMC campus
- 18 bedded long-term rehabilitation stroke unit at City campus and 6 beds in Connect House (further rehab beds)
- A 7 day Fast Track TIA clinic
- Stroke outpatient clinics
- 24/7 thrombolysis service supported by telemedicine
- A regional Mechanical Thrombectomy service
- Regional Neurosurgical service provision
The Stroke Service currently has six stroke consultants, two academic consultants, one neurologist and one acute medicine consultant, providing a 24/7 service. The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic, passionate team with a specialist interest in stroke care. The Trust is committed to further development of the service to maintain its long standing position in the forefront of stroke care provision.

- Full GMC registration
- Eligible to be included on the Specialist Register / CTT expected within 6 months of interview date

Qualifications/Development

- MBBS Degree
- ALS course in date

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
