Compliance Specialist, 6 - 9 month FTC
Location: Remote working with occasional travel to Bristol
- Coordinate and undertake assurance reviews of the Bupa Dental Care Practice Estate. Focusing on FCA regulatory requirements including TCF and conduct risk considerations.
- Work in partnership with business functions to identify and mitigate regulatory risk within the business and escalate issues as appropriate to the Head of Non-Clinical Compliance.
- Provide a professional and pragmatic advisory service to business areas on regulatory and compliance matters.
- Assess operational policy and procedure in line with regulatory best practice requirements.
- Support the Head of Non-Clinical Compliance in developing and maintaining a detailed profile of the current and future regulatory environment by monitoring FCA, marketing and business press and publications, general media articles/ reports and market research; using the information obtained to anticipate the impact on BDC and work with relevant business areas to implement appropriate systems and controls to mitigate regulatory risks.
- To take the lead on BDC Insurance matters, working with Group Risk to look at trends and information from Incidents and Complaints raised across BDC.
- To undertake Due Diligence in relation to Compliance matters for Merger & Acquisition activity, including closures, taking a risk based approach and escalating any concerns effectively.
- To support the Head of Non-Clinical Compliance to develop effective, ongoing reporting to ensure the DExT (Bupa Dental Exec Team) have effective oversight of all FCA matters in line with the SMCR accountabilities.
- To ensure that all GABRIEL returns are completed accurately, with appropriate approval and submitted in a timely manner.
- Regular assurance of Bupa Dental Care websites and other marketing material to ensure that content is compliant with ASA and FCA guidelines with appropriate escalation of any findings for remedial action.
What we’re looking for in you:
- Experience in a regulatory advisory role, with a focus on Consumer Compliance.
- Excellent working knowledge of the FCA handbook, preferably in Consumer Credit and wider requirements including TCF, information security and financial crime.
- Strong understanding of, and ability to, identify conduct risks to the business.
- Proven ability to generate recommendations which improve business processes and are acceptable to operational management.
- Excellent communication both written and oral, and with experience of communicating to staff at all levels within an organisation.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple business stakeholders.
- Practical experience in developing and implementing business risk and regulatory policies.
- A good understanding of the political, legislative, regulatory, compliance and consumer environments affecting the financial services industry.
- Interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with emphasis on achieving results and successful outcomes through consultation and conciliation.
- PC literate (ideally: Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Project).
- Objective, analytical and lateral thinking.
- Educated to A-Level or equivalent
