Job Description
The Assurance & Compliance Manager's responsibilities include but are not limtied to;
- Be involved in writing and enhancing internal control documents to drive improvement to the effectiveness and efficiency of the overall internal control environment,
- Work with the Heads of Functions to ensure adoption of the control framework. Then measure monthly compliance to assure controls and demonstrate improvement each financial year,
- Maintain and organise the annual business risk register programme with quarterly updates and reporting to the Exco.
- Assist functional leaders in development of risk mitigation actions
- Develop a testing schedule for risk mitigation controls that each function has in place that are documented in the risk register and designed to take gross risk down to residual risk.
- Ensure buy in by Exco to testing recommendations and track progress of those action plans owned by each function
The Successful Applicant
The Assurance & Compliance Manager should have;
Education and qualifications
- Qualified accountant - with +10 years post qualified experience
- Degree level education or equivalent
Experience
- Strong communication skills at all levels
- Working in a large organisation, across a matrix structure and an appreciation of the bigger picture
- Strong working knowledge and experience of Corporate Governance rules, risk management and internal control principles
- Demonstrated experience in a commercial risk & control, internal control or compliance role, including detailed control testing experience
- Strong Excel and analytical skills with an inquisitive/challenging mind set
- Ability to identify and understand the root causes of issues and capable to advise on appropriate resolution.
- Preferable experience in Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Navision
- Able to manage and manipulate large and complex volumes of data from multiple sources whilst maintaining clarity and integrity of outputs (turn data into information and recommend the next actions)
