- Position: Quality and Compliance Officer
- Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 per annum plus very good staff benefits and occasional opportunities to travel overseas as part of your role
- Location: Burgess Hill, West Sussex
- Hours: Monday - Friday, office based hours. Hybrid working available home/office
- Due to rural and beautiful office location, you will need to be a driver and have your own transport. Plenty of free parking on site.

The role:
As Quality & Compliance Officer, you will be required to lead the development and continual improvement of the global Quality and Environment Management Systems, engaging teams in continual improvement and good practice across the business, whilst maintaining the ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications.
Within this role you must be prepared to work flexibly to coordinate audits, reporting and improvement actions, to build traction, and to get buy-in from stakeholders across the business. The position will be based in the UK with some international travel to our other sites. It will give you the opportunity to drive improvement across all group functions and see the direct impact of your contribution.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain business ISO 19001 and 14001 certifications.
- Remain informed and up to date with environmental standards, relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with department heads to create a culture of compliance.
- Lead the internal audit team and audit programme.
- Drive a root cause corrective action approach to address any non-conformities and prevent recurrence.
- Work with other departments to implement changes, devising new processes, procedures and controls as required.
- Understand business environmental compliance obligations and manage reporting.
- Oversee and maintain the business document management system and ensure it meets business and ISO requirements.
- Manage supply chain and customer compliance requests
- Support the Operational Excellence Director on sustainability initiatives and strategic projects.
Competencies, knowledge and skills required:
- Experience of working with ISO Management Systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 preferred)
- Experience of undertaking audits of business processes.
- Understanding and practical application of root cause analysis and problem-solving tools.
- A process-thinker, able to analyse business process and identify issues and risks.
- Must be organised and enjoy multi-tasking, you will be responsible for coordinating projects as well as being hands-on.
- Strong analytical and PC skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Evidence of delivering change and engaging positively with continuous improvement.
- Full UK driving licence and own vehicle essential due to office workplace location
Helpful (but not essential) skills and experience:
- Experience in a product-based business, particularly with outsourced manufacturing.
- Good understanding of legislative requirements, including RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, Packaging waste directive, Waste Management, Emissions Reporting etc.
- Experience with lean / six sigma improvement tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with sustainability management, principles and guidelines.
