The Streetworks Team is an integral part of the wider Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness Highways service and works alongside other highways teams. The Streetworks Team manages all aspects of 3rd party work undertaken on the Highway network. This includes the inspection of all utility work activities, from co-ordinating of all works to inspecting the works from the start to completion in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and its relevant Codes of Practice and the Traffic Management Act 2004. The team also issue and monitor private permits in accordance with the Highways Act 1980 such as temporary deposits, temporary excavations, vehicle access both domestic and commercial for new developments, skip and scaffold permits.
The Role
This is a site and office-based role covering all aspects of Streetworks relating to the DfT Fibre Roll Out, inspecting works undertaken on the Cumbria highway network in accordance with the relevant legislation and Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness Councils service procedures and Permit Scheme using the Council Streetworks Systems. And attending meetings with the fibre companies and their contractors and liaising with the Connecting Cumbria team.
You will represent the Council and promote a good relationship with the general public by providing advice and information concerning all Streetworks activities and related matters whenever sought in a courteous manner at all times thereby helping to promote public satisfaction with the service provided.
