We are seeking a self-motivated and articulate individual who can ensure legal and regulatory compliance through effective research, implementing policies and procedures, communicating with staff, and reviewing the Compliance Management System. As Compliance Officer, you will be a subject matter expert in our main areas of compliance, including Consumer Credit, Data Protection, and Consumer Rights. You will be involved in significant projects to further enhance and develop our compliance practices, providing a valuable contribution to Cargiant’s ongoing success.

Main Job Functions:
Responsible for assisting in the management of the Compliance Department’s core functions. This includes:
- Ensuring the procedures and policies of the company are up to date, appropriate and in-line with regulatory and legal requirements i.e. FCA (consumer credit, insurance), Data Protection and Consumer Rights Law.
- Auditing departments and procedures to ensure company policy is being adhered to.
- Identification of risk putting in place preventative measures.
- Communicating to and advising staff on rules and controls.
- Escalated/high-level complaints handling.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Advising the business on regulatory requirements and producing Management Information for use by Senior Managers and Directors.
- Ensuring working practices comply with legislation.
- Auditing compliance processes and procedures where required. Keeping records of audit findings and producing reports that suggest improvements.
- Horizon scanning for updates and maintaining knowledge of regulatory rules and guidance as well as other legal requirements relevant to the business.
- Ensuring staff have an appropriate level of compliance knowledge via updating and reviewing relevant training and tests.
- Maintaining and updating the Compliance Manual.
- Ensuring the fair treatment of Vulnerable Customers.
- Carrying out Data Protection Officer duties.
- Managing CSI and the resolution of these complaints.
- Managing regulated complaints, and other complaints as appropriate, involving: recording the complaints, liaising with the customer, investigating the issues raised, suggesting resolution and administering all relevant correspondence.
- Acting as a senior point of escalation within the company for complaints.
- Liaising with regulatory bodies and other third parties as a direct point of contact for Cargiant.
- Identifying concerning trends or issues, reporting to the Directors/Operations Compliance Manager, implementing remedial action at policy level.
- Carrying out investigations, disciplinary and appeal hearings as required.
- Ensuring the FCA’s reporting requirements are satisfied.
- Managing issues of legal infringement against Cargiant as required.
- Carrying out ad hoc projects as authorised by the Directors/ Compliance Operations Manager.
- Any other duties required should the Compliance Department take on any additional responsibilities.
