We are always strengthening our financial crime team and are now seeking an expert to join us as a Complex Crime Investigator. You will be working across multiple areas of the business to resolve some of the most complex, risky and high-profile economic crime issues in the Bank.
Already an accomplished financial crime investigator, you will be able to identify and manage key financial crime risks, work effectively with a range of stakeholders and be confident in making recommendations to enhance processes.
No two days are the same – Within the space of a week you could be working on cases related to sanctions, terrorist financing, high-profile PEPs, complex tax evasion or bribery and corruption (to name a few!)
The difference you’ll make.
Conducting investigations into the highest risk and most complex economic crime issues, you will apply your financial crime expertise, judgement, and decision-making skills to identify risks and support the bank in meeting its business, legal, regulatory and stakeholder obligations
Engaging with teams across Santander and external agencies to collate the information required and make appropriate decisions, including meeting external reporting requirements and making recommendations across the business where risks are identified or improvements to processes are required
What you’ll bring.
In depth knowledge and understanding of all aspects of financial crime investigation, including knowledge of money laundering and terrorist financing typologies.
A detailed working knowledge of the regulatory framework of UK financial services, the political and economic environment
It would also be nice for you to have.
Good knowledge and understanding of corporate structures, sanctions legislation, bribery and corruption and tax.
Ability to analyse and evaluate complex issues and sound judgement in determining appropriate actions/solutions.
Proven track record of working within a similar complex investigations/crime environment, ideally qualified with/or willing to work towards, a relevant professional qualification suitable for the role
Good knowledge and understanding of regulatory framework of UK financial services, industry trends and best practice

In addition to on-the-job training, external courses and remote-learning packages, we also provide the opportunity for all staff to undertake recognised industry qualifications such as the ICA diploma in AML
