We are looking for Community Support Workers to work within Hyndburn Adult Disability Day Service in Accrington .
We are looking for cheerful and positive individuals who would like to make a difference to the people we support, to come and join our team. We need people to join us who have an upbeat attitude and friendly persona who want to make a substantial difference to the lives of the people we support within our Adult Disability Service.
It is not essential that you have a background in Health and Social Care, you just need to have a good heart and a caring nature. We provide all the required training to ensure you get the most from your role, with qualifications on offer it's a great opportunity to progress in this service and turn it into a career to be proud of!
What we are looking for…
Passion – we want to recruit people with a passion to make a difference to the people we supports' lives, providing much needed support like it's second nature as your commitment to the people we support will be life changing in the work you do. The day services are fun and energised, you will complete a variety of tasks mainly centre based with occasional community activities and sessions may include music, gentle exercise, sensory activities, art and crafts, local walks, pamper and relaxation. You will support and enable people with all aspects of their day from making a drink to supporting people with their personal care, medication, and anything else they require in their day-to-day life. You will at times support people into the community to participate in activities – you will be changing outlooks and breaking down the barriers people can face on a daily basis.
Empathy & Resilience – you will have an understanding of the challenges the people we support deal with which means an empathic nature is of upmost importance. You will need bags of motivation and be able to keep going even on the more difficult days. The needs of some of our service users can be complex and you may face behaviours that challenge so you will need to have a genuine passion to understand people and want to support people to have a good day. It is essential that you can communicate clearly and effectively with every individual providing reassurance and positivity.

From commencing in post, you will be supported in this position with an induction programme and mandatory training to complete. The Adult Disability Service also promotes career development opportunities with various qualifications and training on offer – you will be able to take advantage of a QCF qualification (Qualifications and Credit Framework) which is NVQ Level 3 equivalent – we also have a very supportive management team who ensure all team members are guided in their role, a great culture and you'll be working alongside people with the same values as your own.
