KEYFORT Group
Full Time Consett, England 22360 - 12.04 GBP HOURLY Today
Job description

Vacancy Job Title; Support Worker

Vacancy Location; Consett

Salary / Rate of Pay; £10.75ph

Contract type; Part Time - Fixed Hours

Number of hours available in total; 10.5 to 21

Shift pattern(s) available; Tuesday 07:00 – 17:30, Wednesday 07:00 – 17:30, Thursday 09:00 - 18:00

Desirable criteria; Given the location of this case and start times of these shifts, a driver with access to their own vehicle would be desirable, however for those living in Consett a non driver would be accepted. Rehabilitation or Brain Injury experience, or experience working within a care setting.

Case Overview; The man we support is in his 50’s, he lives in the Consett area of County Durham and suffered an Arterial Stroke in 2020.

In this rehabilitation care package, our overall main aim is to:

  • Increase social engagement and interaction.
  • Community re-engagement.
  • Exploring new and alternative activities; for example, going out on day trips to the coast or going out for lunches etc.

The man we support used to work within the industrial sector as a mechanic and a lorry driver, and still has interests in vehicles, transport and mechanics, with this in mind he is also very accepting of trying new things that might pique his interest. He has a friendly demeanour, and is wanting to get out and about in his community and further afield. He enjoys nothing more than a laugh and some friendly banter with the people he meets and, this will be key in being able to motivate to attend and be a part of planned activities.

He needs support in all aspects of personal care, daily routine and daily living skills. There is scope in the future to work with him towards goal setting to achieve being more independent in some of these areas, but this will be a slow and patient process that will be routinely assessed and tracked with feedback from yourself and the man we support.

His stroke resulted in him having limited use of his right-hand side limbs, therefore part of the daily support will be to assist with repositioning of his right sided limbs. He also has limited speech but uses hand gestures, pointing and is also learning to use an iPad to help with his communication.

Who we’re looking for: It’s important that we share the same values. While we don’t ask for prior care experience, we do ask that the following matters to you:

  • Making a positive difference: you love knowing that what you do and how you do it matters.
  • Taking pride in your work: you aspire to deliver quality in everything you undertake.
  • Relationship building: you love taking the time to get to know people, their interests and aspirations. Building respectful and meaningful relationships is important to you.

What benefits will you receive?

  • A contract that works for you; fixed hours or more flexible zero hour available
  • Paid Annual Leave; 5.6 weeks annual leave if you are on a fixed hours contract or, for those who choose our flexible zero hour contract, you will accrue12.07% on all hours worked. Funds can be drawn at your discretion.

  • Paid Enhanced DBS check
  • Colleague Referral Scheme - £200 incentive bonus (T&C’s apply)
