Job description
Our Community Safety Enforcement Officers are responsible for improving community safety outcomes throughout the Royal Borough’s main Town Centres, secondary shopping areas, parks and housing estates. In support of the Council’s approach to Integrated Enforcement, Officers will also be work collaboratively with other enforcement colleagues and agencies, and in other parts of the borough as required. Community Safety Enforcement Officers will be responsible for enforcing against individuals using relevant Anti-Social Behaviour legislation to address low-level environmental offences and breaches of Royal Greenwich’s Public Spaces Protection Orders.
Safer Spaces is a trauma-informed service which delivers person-centred compassionate enforcement strategies to tackle persistent anti-social behaviour, crime and disorder issues in public spaces throughout the borough.
Successful applicants will be expected to, assess and identify solutions to enviro crime and wider community safety problems, and collaborate on exciting projects to reduce crime and disorder to make the Royal Borough a safer place to live, work and thrive.
Essential criteria for the role include:
- Ability and willingness to undertake highly visible, enforcement patrols, including during hours of darkness, in inclement weather and on overtime as required.
- Ability to build good working relationships with others, both inside and out of the Council, in support of Integrated Enforcement.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with a diverse range of people.
- Ability to manage challenging situations including those involving confrontation.
- Already holds or willing to undertake Non-Police personnel level 2 vetting. A DBS as a minimum.
- Understanding of and commitment to the Council’s equal opportunities policies and ability to put into practice in the context of this post.

We are particularly looking for people with a frontline enforcement background, and those who understand crime prevention tactics. Training will however be available for the right individuals appointed.
