About the Role
The Community Safety Coordinator role is a key point of contact for residents, businesses, elected members and other organisations where crime or anti-social behavior is causing a problem. The Community Safety Co-ordinator will take ownership of issues to help to find a satisfactory resolution. This may include making appropriate referrals for support, interviewing complainants and perpetrators, arranging mediation, issuing warning letters, notices and fines and in some circumstances taking formal legal action with our legal team.
As prevention and early intervention are key, the post holder will also take responsibility for community safety events in their area, including running campaigns, managing the voluntary sector grants process, liaising with service providers, and at times giving talks and attending meetings, including meetings with the local community.
The role needs someone who is passionate and committed to making a difference, recognizing that the spectrum of crime and anti-social behavior is quite wide.
About you
You will be committed to making Trafford a safe place to live, work and visit. You will need to have a compassionate approach to victims and witnesses of crime and anti-social behavior and be able to communicate effectively. You will need to be proactive in your approach to problem solving and be able to work with other colleagues and teams within the council, as well as external organisations to be able to achieve this.
You will be able to work to deadlines, taking ownership of tasks and seeing them through to completion.
With good IT skills, you will also keep accurate records, be able to produce and present reports to a wide variety of audiences, including to governance boards.
You will have experience of multi-agency partnership working and be able to foster good relationships with others to ensure successful outcomes.
