The Manager, Government Relations will be based in Washington, DC and reporting to KBR’s Vice President, Government Relations. The Manager will be responsible for supporting KBR’s initiatives to influence public policy impacting the company’s business and operations and developing/maintaining effective working relationships with officials and staff of various branches of government as well as other external stakeholders who may influence the development and execution of the public policy interests of KBR.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Supporting KBR’s government relations program at the U.S. federal level. The individual will work with the Vice President, Government Relations to achieve favorable outcomes to federal policies and funding impacting KBR’s government programs and services and will work to optimize the company’s profile and visibility with policymakers.
Monitoring, researching federal legislation and regulations impacting KBR (e.g. DoD, NASA, DoE, State, Commerce, DoJ) and evaluating these impacts on KBR’s business units and assisting with the development and implementation of influencing strategies to protect and promote the company’s interests and reputation. The Manager will work closely with business teams and functions across the company to support these initiatives and other projects engaging the Government Relations function.
Assist in the administration of the company’s federal voluntary employee Political Action Committee (KBRPAC) including recommendations/input for candidate contributions, conducting KBRPAC solicitation drives among KBR business units and employees, organizing fundraising events in Washington, DC and in congressional districts with a KBR presence, and attending fundraisers for candidates supported by the KBRPAC.
Attend public events, social functions, and political events to cultivate and maintain working relationships on behalf of KBR with key officials, agencies and thought leaders.
Draft internal and external correspondence in support of government relations initiatives (e.g: KBR capabilities presentations, congressional correspondence, issue papers, press releases, speeches, talking points)
Additional duties include:
Develop and maintain working relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders influencing the development and execution of KBR’s government relations strategies and initiatives.
Scheduling internal and external meetings, developing agendas, preparing materials for meetings
Support internal and external stakeholder requests for Government Relations-related information and materials
Assist in coordination of external Government Relations consultants/lobbyists retained by KBR
Work with the Vice President, Government Relations on budgets and expenditures to support the business function
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Government Affairs, Business, International Relations, Communications or related field
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Congress, corporate government relations, lobbying or consulting organization or related industry trade association
Authorized to work in the United States
