About the role…
Humankind’s Community Diversion service is funded by the Northumbria Violence Reduction Unit supporting their vison to ensure:
“Northumbria is a place where individuals, families and communities thrive, making the most of opportunities to live, learn and work free from the fear of violence.”
Working across the Northumbria Police Force areas, this exciting new service will support individuals accessing the Integrated Offender Management Scheme, and Children and Young People aged 10 - 17 years who are vulnerable and at risk or involved in serious violent crime and their immediate family.
Summary of role
Humankind’s Community Outreach Workers will deliver wrap around’ support to individuals accessing the IOM scheme and motivate and encourage individuals to work with specialist services to make positive changes, and reduce the likelihood of reoffending.
Workers will also support the Youth Violence Intervention Service on a rota system once every 5 weeks working within the Newcastle RVI and Sunderland Royal Hospital, to engage young people admitted to emergency departments linked to violence.
We have three roles Available, and these will be hybrid working, including a base site and within the locality assigned. Localities for these roles are: Newcastle/Gateshead, South Tyneside/Sunderland, North Tyneside/Northumberland.
