We have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Community Adult Rehabilitation Service (Physical Health) in Hillingdon.

The successful applicant will be well supported by the Team Lead, band 7 OT and the multidisciplinary team; physiotherapists, therapy technicians, rehab support workers, SALT and dietitians. Your role as a community Occupational therapist for CARS will be to work in an integrated way and provide a high quality, client-led and goal focused rehabilitation. Continuing professional development is actively supported via clinical supervision, Personal Development Reviews and in-service training.

You will be working closely with The Hillingdon Hospital therapists, voluntary sector, Rapid Response Team and therapists at Hawthorn Intermediate Care Unit. This role will involve rotating between the community and intermediate care unit.As the position will require you to visit various locations throughout our supported area, it is essential that candidates hold a driver’s license and have use of a car for business purposes.

  • To provide a specialised occupational therapy assessment and treatment service without direct supervision for delegated patients with complex physical, psychological and sensory impairment often with multi-pathology.
  • To plan, implement and evaluate treatment and management programmes to ensure the identified needs of the individual are met at all stages of the rehabilitation process or disease progression.
  • To educate and advise patients, their families and carers in order to facilitate self-management of their condition and optimise their rehabilitation potential and quality of life.
  • To support in the development of new initiatives within Central and North West London NHS Trust and London Borough of Hillingdon Adult Social Care.
  • To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team working collaboratively with other members of the team and recognising the skills and expertise of others.
  • To take part in service rotations ie community and intermediate care unit with possibility of rotation across The Hillingdon Hospital.
  • To be proactive in personal professional development.
  • To provide support and supervision to rehabilitation support workers, therapy technicians and delegated under graduate occupational therapy students, including monthly supervision and annual appraisal.
  • To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
  • To maintain clinical records as an autonomous practitioner.
