Assistant Community Manager opening in Alexandria, Virginia
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Performs a variety of administrative duties related to the overall management of the property, and assumes supervisory authority when the Manager is away from the property.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Abides by Fair Housing Laws; performs all tasks relating to leasing the property, such as showing the property to prospective residents, preparing lease packets, running credit reports; inspects properties after “move-outs” and prior to “move-ins;” handles the accounting and posting duties for deposits and rent payments; responds to telephone requests from residents and the public; handles payroll; tracks traffic through the property; prepares purchase orders; coordinates maintenance requests with the Service Manager; aggressively works on resident retention through positive resident relationships.
OCCASIONAL FUNCTIONS: May make bank deposits and attend meetings on behalf of the Manager; may supervise the pool during the season; may assist maintenance department with typing; may train other employees. Handles computer transmissions and report preparation for Manager.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Required: High school education, supplemented by proficiency in the use of office equipment Preferred: Some advanced courses in Management, Public Relations, Accounting, or Real Estate; prior office experience in a multi-unit rental complex, and general knowledge of Fair Housing and Landlord-Tenant Laws
SUPERVISES: Property Staff in Manager’s Absence
