Job description
South Cambridgeshire libraries are all at the heart of the communities they serve.
We are currently recruiting for two part time posts, one based in Comberton Library (15.25 hours per week) and the other based in Bar Hill Library (14 hours per week).
We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and versatile people. You will have high standards of customer care and be able to work using your own initiative.
The successful candidates will be responsible for creating a friendly and welcoming library space for all customers and volunteers. You will be able to multi-task, be flexible and enjoy working under pressure. There will be scope for working in other locations, so flexibility and adaptability is a must, with access to your own transport desirable.

You will:
- be confident using your initiative.
- have excellent communication and digital skills.
- be able to work with volunteers.
- be able to quickly master the varied aspects of library routines, including front line customer care, using the library management system, the self-service machines, handling cash, stock requests and stock circulation procedures.
- demonstrate a mature and professional attitude.
- be able to work collaboratively with partners in the building.
We strongly recommend that all applicants read the “Guidance on applying for a Job” document, which can be found by clicking on “General Information for Applicants” under “Further Information for this job”. Please also ensure you read our additional information document, about working for Cambridgeshire Libraries, which includes the timetables for each post.
Please highlight in your supporting statement how you meet each of the essential criteria, with a description and clear examples to illustrate your points.
These are permanent posts of 15.25 hours and 14 hours. The salary is pro rata to reflect this.
As part of our shortlisting process we will be conducting short telephone screening calls, to ensure each applicant has read the necessary documentation.
Interviews will be held at Cambourne Library on Wednesday 5th July 2023.
