Passionate about enhancing the welfare of dogs? Do you want to empower owners and other animal welfare professionals?

We have an exciting opportunity for a clinical animal behaviourist to join our community clinical animal behaviour team.

Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK with a nationwide network of rehoming centres and charity shops. Last year, Dogs Trust centres cared for over 10,000 dogs; we never put a healthy dog down.

Canine behaviour knowledge and practice is central to rehabilitating dogs within our rehoming centres, and for the provision of Dog School training and education classes. Science-led behaviour knowledge also informs a range of other areas of Dogs Trust activity, including campaigns, international projects, and the work of the education teams.

You will provide specialist behaviour consultations for dogs showing behaviour problems including aggressive behaviour directed towards people, liaising with vets and others, supporting the owner, and offering follow-up support as required.

Acting as a mentor throughout the organisation, you will help to develop the next generation of behaviour specialists working towards national standards of accreditation in clinical behaviour. You will play an active role in designing, assessing, and delivering educational material.

With an animal behaviour or welfare qualification at degree level or above you will have a thorough, in-depth knowledge of dog behaviour, training and welfare. Ideally, you will be accredited as a Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB) with Association for Study of Animal Behaviour (ASAB), acquired ASAB CCAB Pre-Certification, or have qualifications and clinical experience of an equivalent standard. A skilled communicator you will be experienced in handling dogs with a range of problem behaviours, and be familiar with a range of different techniques for training and rehabilitation

This is a home-based opportunity, with frequent visits across North and East London, Cambridgeshire and East Anglia, to support the delivery of behaviour services and undertaking clinical consultations and assessments.

To apply for this position, please send your CV and cover letter explaining your interest in and suitability for the role by clicking the APPLY button.
