Communications Specialist

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, we are currently seeking an experienced Communications Specialist to join HSBC Technology.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The role holder will join the User Experience (UX) Communications team, working within the Chief Technology (CTO) Colleague & Collaboration function. They will be responsible for developing and delivering creative communications content in support of CTO C&C strategic priorities.
The role holder will improve user awareness, understanding and uptake of new and existing internal-facing technology products and services. They will promote user experience initiatives through multimedia content creation and multichannel distribution.
The role holder will work in close collaboration with global stakeholders and functional partners and may be required to partner with third-party agencies to develop and deliver creative content.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with colleagues across the UX Communications team and global stakeholders to identify creative content opportunities, advising on effective formats and approaches.
- Play an instrumental role in the design and development of internal communications content, including videos, infographics, social intranet posts, blogs and email newsletters.
- Devise and develop a multichannel approach to content distribution, helping the team engage new audiences, build communities and bring technology to life for colleagues across the bank.
- Carry out graphic design work and create internal marketing materials in support of CTO C&C projects and initiatives.
- Provide essential production support for weekly email newsletter (Tech Tuesday), contributing support as required on a weekly basis and taking on additional responsibilities during team absences.
- Rigorous use of measurement, data and insight to inform activities and drive continuous improvement.
- Support planning and delivery of events showcasing technology products and services.
- Ensure all content is aligned to HSBC brand guidelines and is accessible by design.
- Seek out new trends to inform and inspire how we communicate innovatively
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE REQUIRE
- Proven track record of creating engaging multimedia content for multichannel audiences
- Strong working knowledge of PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Premiere
- Excellent English language writing skills
- Attention to detail, with equal ability to edit written, infographic or video content
- Logical thinker, with ability to distil and re-purpose technical information for communicating with generalist audiences
- Takes responsibility for end-to-end task delivery
- Strong team player, who is happy working collaboratively and flexibly with peers, stakeholders and juniors
- Able to work within a complex environment, prioritise and reconcile competing demands and swiftly resolve issues
- Ability to work under time pressure, managing multiple priorities effectively
- Self-starter, able to drive continual learning for self and innovation for team
- A friendly and confident manner that enables open and active dialogue with stakeholders
OPTIONAL/NICE TO HAVE
- Working knowledge of Poppulo and workplace social intranets
