Communications Officer

We are looking for a Communications Officer to join our multi award-winning Communications Service in London’s most exciting borough.

Whether it is campaigns, media, social media, consultations, newsletters or our quarterly Our East End publication, your work will play a key role in how we engage with our residents and businesses to make Tower Hamlets a better place.

To do that you will need to create great content, understand and build our audiences, and help develop our channels.

We are looking for candidates that have experience working in a communications service.

You will be joining one of the best public sector teams in the country. Over the past few years, we have won national awards for campaigns, social media, ethics and crisis management.

But we want to achieve much more.

You will have an amazing place to work with.

Tower Hamlets offers the best of London in one borough. We have amazing assets including Brick Lane, Columbia Road and Spitalfields markets, museums, galleries and other destinations including Truman Brewery and Victoria Park; we provide the third highest economic output of the UK with Canary Wharf and City Fringe; world class educational institutions including Queen Mary University and Barts NHS Trust and a rich history from the Tower of London to the docks, which has led to one of the most diverse populations in the country.

Excited? Then apply to join our team.

Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.

Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.

We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
