COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Working hours 18 hours per week (with possibility to extend/increase hours subject to funding)

£24,500 - £26,215 Pro rata to 18 hours

Broxtowe Women’s Project (BWP) is a small but hugely ambitious charity that supports and empowers women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse. We are extremely passionate about raising awareness to prevent and end domestic abuse.

Communications is a vital part of our work and is embedded throughout everything that we do; high quality, fast paced communications enables us to raise awareness and increase our reach to prevent and reduce domestic abuse.

We require an experienced and highly capable communications specialist who easily adapt to changing priorities, can hit the ground running and build on the solid framework that our current Communications Officer has developed.

Job Purpose:

To work closely with our Partnership Manager and wider team to raise awareness of the work of Broxtowe Women’s Project (BWP) and domestic abuse through the website, social media platforms and events.

To ensure BWP is connected to relevant stakeholder networks, community links and social media platforms, so that we are able to connect with businesses and advise, support and train their teams in recognising and responding to domestic abuse and importantly to enable women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse to access our services or critical information.

Main Duties and responsibilities:

· Manage BWP’s external communications on all media, social media, news, and online funding platforms.

· Write engaging content and update the website (ongoing), social media (daily), and newsletters (monthly) with current, accurate data, ensuring all posts have correct meta data to ensure high SEO.

· Monitor, evaluate and connect BWP’s social media to relevant stories/themes.

· Raise awareness of the impact of domestic abuse and ensure that BWP are connected to national debates, lobbying and campaigns – engaging with businesses and service users.

· Create quarterly and annual media coverage reports.

· Exploit existing communications channels and work in partnership with other agencies creating BWP ambassadors.

· Development of public communications, such as website articles and blogs, with the wider BWP team.

· Write and design campaigns and marketing materials (such as postcards, posters, banners, and other promotional items), organise print and delivery of items, and share across the community when required.

· Create and share case studies.

· Attract/engage journalists and press coverage.

· Support BWP at own or community events. Take photographs/videos to communicate the important domestic abuse messages, and event engagement.

· Supporting and engaging with BWP’s partners at events and across social media platforms.

· Support in the development and implementation of the Communications Strategy.

· Ensure database is populated with communication contacts.

· Respond to contacts and communications enquiries and reports on the impact of BWP’s communications.

· Support the team with recruitment – by posting vacancies with local partners, on the website, recruitment sites and social media.

General:

· Build an understanding of the BWP services and how the varied work of the team members support our core values, mission, and vision.

· Recognise and celebrate success.

· To develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all BWP staff, volunteers, and external partners.

· Ensure own continued personal and professional development is maintained.

· To undertake any other relevant duties the Partnership Manager or CEO may request when necessary.

· Ensure conduct is in line with BWP’s ethos and values, and adhere to BWP’s Staff Handbook, policies, and procedures whilst ensuring that sensitive information is secure and complies with GDPR regulations.
