Communications Officer Remote

Beaver Trust
Full Time Remote 21200 - 27560 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Beaver Trust is a small and agile nature restoration organisation with a mission to
restore beavers to regenerate our landscapes.

Our work involves significant fieldwork to release, move and manage beavers and support
communities with practical mitigation, engaging stakeholders on national regulatory frameworks
and strategies for beavers, and working collaboratively to continue the species' revival across
Britain.

We are delighted to be recruiting a permanent Communications Officer to support the
team in delivering various core communications at Beaver Trust, to ensure our reach, messaging
and project work continues to grow and helps achieve our mission.

You will be responsible for supporting day to day communications team tasks and helping
deliver projects to meet our charitable objectives: working with colleagues across the
organisation you will input on engaging, science-led communications content, supporting the
expansion of existing initiatives such as our beaver restoration public communications, river
buffer campaign, content for discreet fundraising projects (such as the Big Give challenge),
training course materials, external media liaison and political advocacy communications. A main
focus of our communications efforts is to reach new audiences to engage on beavers.

You will work closely with each of the Communications team members, reporting to the
Head of Communications who leads the strategy. We are looking for someone who shares our
passion for regenerating landscapes, who has an eye for compelling communications content and
can help build support and outreach opportunities around this dynamic species. You will join in
on a broad range of communications projects and have an opportunity to learn from the leading
beaver restoration experts in the country.

provide valuable additional resource to our Communications team in a supporting
capacity, inputting to the development, delivery and reporting on a range of day to day and
discreet project work.

Provide a first point of contact for communications enquiries and media, fielding
questions to respective team members and coordinating responses. Broader media work could
include drafting quotes, writing and reviewing press releases and engaging productively
with external media contacts.

Contribute to creative, inspiring and science-lead beaver communications, ensuring
consistency and a high standard across all external communications. Maintaining and
updating key communications channels such as our website as necessary.

Support the Head of Communications in a major NGO partnership call Riverscapes, as
we roll out a river buffer campaign to advocate for making space for nature around river
corridors.

Support existing initiatives and carve out new routes to communicate beaver
fieldwork, releases and territory establishment; including undertaking site visits and
attending releases in person to support the restoration team, document the release and
draft content to share publicly.

Support major fundraising projects with strong communications outputs, alongside
existing team members, such as engaging content around the Big Give Christmas Challenge to
drive strong donations.

Support the Communications Manager in the expansion of our political engagement,
coordinating key contacts with the Senior Management Team, liaising over external sessions
& content required.

Bring innovation and creativity to our social media presence, to help drive bigger
and new audiences to expand the reach of our messaging.

Input to continuous review and improvement of internal communications to promote
efficient operations.

Support the development and roll out of Beaver Trust's external training programme
through key communications channels.

Input to the quarterly Communications report and monitoring process for submission
to the Board of Trustees.

Support the CEO with communications work as needed.

Beaver Trust strives to be diverse and inclusive and a place where we can all be
ourselves and we positively welcome applications from people from a wide range of backgrounds
and experiences. We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and encourage
applications from individuals regardless of their religion, beliefs, age, gender, race,
disability or sexual orientation.
