Job summary

The Operations Room Clerk is the interface between the Operations Team and all internal and external agencies associated with daily, planned and emerging tasks. Their role is a key appointment within the team, and they will work closely with a small cohort of military staff.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The Squadron Operations Room Clerk is to provide administrative support to the Operations Team on all admin matters in a timely, effective and efficient manner. The post exists within a highly dynamic organisation in which rapid change is a constant factor. The post holder is to be proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel. Duties include the update, verification and production of documents relating to J6 tasks. The job holder will be required to facilitate information management within information systems, IT and hard copy. Maintain the security of all classified documents. The issue and control of cryptographic materiel as directed when course trained (within 12 months of arrival). Book all courses as required. Carry out Impexing duties when required. Control and collate paperwork for all Ops Room activities. Maintain the Sqn J6 library. Maintain the physical security of the Ops room and equipment therein. Submit returns to RHQ as required. Book transport and accommodation as required. Carry out any other reasonable tasks commensurate with grade as directed by line management.

Person specification

The candidate must be proactive and forward thinking and essentially have a keen eye for detail, especially when dealing with sensitive documents and cryptographic accounting. They need to flexible in their approach to work load priorities because short notice tasks may take precedence due to operational need. Having a good working knowledge of MS Excel is essential for this role.
