Job description
There has never been a more exciting or important time to work in communication in Adult Services and support our internal teams and our residents through change across a number of areas driven largely, but not exclusively, by the ‘People at the Heart of Care’ White Paper.
This is a unique opportunity to apply change communications and engagement skills to support our high priority change programmes impacting on our staff and operations, to ultimately improve how we support the lives of Swindon residents.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, creative and resilient, and able to work well in a collaborative and complex environment, responding to new and emerging government policy.
Your next role
You will be part of our Corporate Communications team, working closely with our Adults transformation team to understand the intricacies of the changes, in order to produce relevant communications. It is a proactive, planned and structured communications role, it is rarely reactive, although reactive communications can sometimes be needed. The complexity also means communications, even when written succinctly, more often than not, are quite detailed, short social media posts are less common, although can sometimes be needed.
As a Communications Executive, you will deliver high quality communication to inform, engage and support our staff, our external stakeholders and our residents through change. You will be an experienced communicator with an understanding of communicating through change.
Alongside writing the communications for the transformation programme you will collate, proof read and edit content for a variety of business as usual (BAU) communication channels including:
- Our internal staff newsletter for people working in Adult Services. This is currently created using Sway.
- Our internal staff intranet/website for people working in Adult Services. This is a SharePoint online website.
- Our resident-facing website providing information about self-help and services. Currently called the ‘Local Offer’. This website is managed by our corporate website team, you will be responsible for the content and working with our web team to influence the design/appearance of the content and monitor and improve usage and feedback about the content.
- You will be able to manage the internal Adults staff SharePoint intranet/website as well as update the content, to ensure the website is user friendly and navigable. This is an easy to manage SharePoint site – no previous experience of managing SharePoint sites required, we can train you on how to add and display information on the intranet.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
